Nice to meet you gents.   I'm relatively "new" to this forum.   Would ask for your expertise!

Good news - I got my father in law's 1970 Torino started!    It's a 351c-2v.   Quiet as can be! I was impressed!

A request for your wisdom:

Might you gents know the routing to the vacuum canister?   It's that "soup can" looking part.    It has 2 hose nipples -- where exactly should they connect to?

Note: Father in law is 89 years old and purchased this from his brother. It's a sentimental car to him and getting it on the road is "my gift" to him.    Should have seen his face "light up" when I got it started!

From what I know one line goes to the vacuum amplifier and the other goes to the intake manifold.

Hey Thanks a million Don!

If you don't mind me asking - is there a diagram of all the 70 Torino vacuum lines somewhere?      It's been a bit of a "bear" figuring this stuff.

I purchased a CD with the shop manuals on it ....  but it didn't do a good job "showing" the vacuum routing.

Thanks for you coaching Don!     I'm appreciative.

I'm just guessing but you should be able to find a diagram on the internet but I don't know of any off hand. I also don't know about 1970 but there was a time when Ford intake manifold vacuum lines had a white stripe on them.

the soup can is a vacuum reservoir, the 2 lines are in & out with a check valve on the In line so any
stored vacuum isn't lost when the engine is in a low vacuum situation (heavy throttle)

does your car have the 3 hose heater core with the monstrosity control valve(s)?

On a 1970 the vac check valve is built into the top of canister. There is a vac tree on firewall below cowl that most of the lines tie into. If it is the same shop manual CD that I used most of the vac routing is listed in HVAC section.
Always working on something !!

but the diagram doesn't show the vacuum reservoir, as Johnny pointed out one side goes to the intake manifold and the other goes to the interior climate control. one side of the soup can will hold vacuum and the other will let it escape. the escape connection is the manifold and the connection that does not let the suction out is to the interior climate controls
