Bar is actually coming off! I've got a plan!

Its going on one of my landrovers and I'm going to make a slightly more 72 looking front bumper up

Nothing like a bit of light fabrication to break up the monotony of proof reading a dissertation.......

About as close to identical as I'm going to get without laser cutting! But stuff is happening, finally getting round to forming the bumper ends and making it look a lot less boxy!

Gone and made a buy......some sexy billet flanges, stainless header flanges and a load of tight mandrels in 1.75" and 4mm wall!!

Back in hardware mode.

Test fitted the header flanges and unfortunately found out they've been cut slightly out. Contacted the company and they're sorting it out for me, great customer service on that. Also made a slight modification, having them made slightly larger so I can get the 4mm thick pipe in there easily!

And with the turbo header parts here I thought I'd better get some practice in, wanting them to look as good as possible so I finished welding up some header stubs for a friends Rolls Royce Merlin engine, gonna need to get in a little more practice before I start.....

So with that in mind I've finally started to sort out my bumper, bit of cardboard engineering to sort the profile out and tomorrow I'll get cutting the steel to form it.

Nearly forgot........new pedals out, old new pedals going back in!

Going for a replacement set of Tilton pedals which fit the look of the Torino more, old school fabricated steel rather than billet ally

Had a little free time so completed one of the small jobs I'd been meaning to do......

Tilton don't make a standalone floor mount accelerator pedal......but I do!
One scrap piece of steel, one Tilton clutch pedal and one linkage = one floor mount pedal. Just need to fit a torsion spring into the base to act as a return

Finally arrived, my sexy billet header collectors!

1.75" primaries (reduced diameter for turbos keeps velocity up) with a 3" GT-55 V band on the other end and integral wastegate

I'm assuming they're functional given the depth and direction, would think they increase turbulence through the collector to keep speeds up rather than letting the gas get to a laminar flow with a set boundary layer

Been a little bit productive today......

Removed the knackered old battery tray that hasn't been useful for years, re routed the trans cooler lines and relocated the cooler in an attempt to tidy up the engine bay ready for the turbo headers to be built, fitted the oil cooler sandwich plate and I've made the decision to remake the header tank and washer bottle from ally.....going to relocate them too! Header tank can go behind the bumper and washer bottle to the bulkhead where I removed the the brake booster

Also got round to welding the old crossmember back together....it'll be approximately 6mm wider than before so I'll just elongate the holes in the mount to make up for this

Will also have to make a little adapter bracket up for the C6 to trans mount as theres something missing on this and I cant find a Torino C6 trans mount anywhere!

Well a snail has been ordered so I can start making the headers, even if my heads aren't done at the machine shop they're coming home with me this weekend. I've had enough of waiting

Going to order some 347 filler metal tonight as I'm welding 304 to 321

And the snail calculator says let there be power!

Look at the predicted torque curve, thats 1000rpm, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000 and finally 6500 on a 521 motor

Summit order finally arrived! New rods have got some girth compared to the old ones! Also gone through the effort of making up a purge set up for making the headers and buying some specialist TIG rods......321 stainless onto 304, apparently this is the best stuff, alongside an 80mm gas lens!

Here's one of the twins, not exactly small but not a big f**ker either! Anyway it turns out that Ford in their infinite wisdom have already marked out symmetrical point in the hood for me to cut and poke the turbos halfway through

Thats just a standard 13mm spanner for size comparison
