I need to vent a bit. I dropped the engine the other day, went in to mount the headers, no luck on that side, as the engine seemed tilted towards the driver side. I put it on the fact I tighten the mounts while the engine wasn't seating well. I yanked it up, free the mounts and still sits at an angle. These are not the stock mount but a set from Autozone. I ordered a while back a set for cleveland, they gave me 2 mounts, one fit, no the other as it was totally different. Anyway, the first one matched my old one so I got another one. They look the same, bolt on easily but damn the engine tilts 1" towards the driver side, so no way to install the headers. I'm considering putting the old mounts back, even though they seem near the end. Or maybe had a 1/2" spacer to the left side motor mount. Venting done.

Ilyes
There is a "Left" and a "Right" motor mount for your car. They are NOT the same side-to-side,

The left side mount was 1" longer and the bolt holes didn't line up with the block. The 351W I took out had the same mount on both sides (different part numbers but they measure the same, and look identical). Should I get the left mount and just drill a hole in it?

The 302/351W/351C all use the same mount. the mounts look identical side to side, but are not. The part that attaches to the frame is at an angle and if you reverse them, or use 2 of the same, the engine won't fit right. The one the store gave you with the wrong holes is probably a 351M/400 mount. There are also some crappy mounts (Chinese copies) that the holes are off and won't fit.

Yay, I need to find that mount now, autozone does not carry it, maybe rockauto. Just check Rockauto and they list the same mount for both right and left. I guess I need to pull my mounts out of the garbage and maybe send them to damper dudes.

Anchor 2371 Left & 2370 Right

Yes the mounts are mirror images of each other, canted to tilt the engine back

you can see it in the cross member bracket section of the mount. if you hold the cross member section level through the bolt holes(put the bolt in to help visualize) then the engine bolt section will be tilted

It's the mount I ordered the first time. It didn't fit at all, the hole to bolt on to the block is nearly 1" to far. It came from Autozone so maybe that brand will fit just right.

years ago i swapped in a 289 to a mustang II, the 302 factory mounts were an inch wider than 289 holes in the block.

if the 351 w mounts are the same as stated, i used prothane urethane ford mounts on my car they fit up to 73, so they should work in your car, i can dig out the part #'s if your interested!

Make sure you let it cool down to ambient.....ideally leave it overnight then drain the oil to see how it went.

Cut the filter open then refill with a good ZZDP oil

Carb is acting up, rear bowl doesn't want to fill up and front bowl level drops a bit overnight.
I'm gonna go get a new timing light today and tinker with it a bit. So far, it shreds tires even when I'm not trying Wink

Front is sitting a tad too high, and those 2.75 gears needs to go, will be looking for a 3.50 posi.
