Thanks guys!

A few new things...

Big thanks to californiajohnny for getting me an OE antenna! Now I can listen to the same radio station the entire way to work! lol

Then some progress on getting the climate control system working again. Here's why the blower motor didn't work....  41 years of debris and rust lol.

Of course the blower mount plate was badly rotted away....

So I made up a new one and painted it....

Then installed it into the lower AC blower housing along with the replacement motor. I soldered the harness wires from the original motor into the new one so that on the outside it still has factory connections....

Hoping to get it installed this weekend and then see if the AC blows cold!

I laughed when I finally pulled it. I didn't really want to pull the blower case so I was trying to "jump start" the blower motor with a battery charger, thinking maybe the brushes were just frozen. Nope!  It was packed solid with acorns and debris, the motor was rotted apart from the cage, and the lower part of the motor case was completely rotted away. Lightning couldn't have jumped this thing, lol.

sal, that antennae looks good on there Wink glad to help! yeah that motor was bad, mine was frozen too! i figured i would be buying a new one too so i had nothing to loose so i sprayed PB blaster in the bushings on mine and tapped on the shaft and worked it slowly with visegrips, more PB then when it started to turn, i jumped it with the battery charger on 200 amp start mode Big smile it freed up and is still working fine in my car! Big smile i did buy a VDO replacement motor for my celica, it blows better than the original ever did Thumbs Up
BTW, nice work on that plate!!! looks factory stockClap

Little more work done...nothing spectacular.

My car has the typical rotted out battery tray portion of the inner fender. The battery was being held down with a bungee cord and sitting on a piece of wood stopping it from falling through, lol. I really didn't want to track down a clean inner fender, pay a zillion dollars for it, and take the car apart to change it. So I decided to make a patch section.

Here is what I was starting with....

Here is the patch section I made. I used heavy gauge aluminum. Yes, I cut the entire thing out with a hand nibbler. Yes, my hand was sore for days afterwards, lol.

Then installed into the car, with a repro battery tray in place.....

I have a little more finish work to do on it, then I will paint it all black so it blends in.

I also got the A/C up and running.... :)

Real nice work! Just get that aluminum coated because that battery will make short order of it.

Well I couldn't resist redoing all that worn off silver trim with that nice OE radio in there now!

I used high temp aluminum paint, since it is extremely shiny and was a nice match. Applied it very carefully using a q-tip. I think it came out nice!

Before pics...

After pics....
