So, I'm looking at headers.
My thought on Headers is, there are headers (anything is better than stock manifolds) and there are HEADERS (designed specifically for vehicle/application. Max performance). I'm not looking for max performance and I don't want to fight installing them either. So that said, has anyone tried the Summit racing or Hedman headers for a 351W in a 73? It seems all the big block guys have fit issues. Is that a BB issue or just a Torino issue? Also, seems eveyone with said fit issues are using Hookers (chuckle). I'm looking at: Summit : http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-g9031/overview/year/1973/make/ford/model/torino Hedman (which look surprisingly similar to the Summit): http://www.summitracing.com/parts/hed-88300/overview/make/ford/model/gran-torino Any suggestions?

I used a set of stock 80's era Mustang 5.0 GT Headers they fit fine and easy to bolt things up to.

My car has the ceramic coated summit full length headers (just like those but shiny ) and they fit just about perfectly. of course this is a 76 elite. but I'm pretty sure it would work just fine. By the way the headers i got were labled as the Patriots. |

My 72 has the Headman Elites and even with the C6 there was not much fitment issue. The collectors are close to the transmission pan rail. They say they wouldn't fit with the larger trans in but they do. Jack the car WAY up to get the drivers side in. The passenger side just drops right in!

any of the 72-76 302 or 351w headers will fit , but auto trans only, if you have a manual, they are tough to find

I have Hedman headers on my '72 with a 302/C4. No issues whatsoever, and I will using them on a project car I'm building. Zero issues.
