I like it,  Go for it. That would be  the best of both worlds.

Looks like she will be motivated by a 460 now. I see it as a custom tow mule for a trailer with a .......(stay tuned for that part)

I pulled a tight string along the side "bump" because it looked like the bed sat lower than the cab. The string foloowed the bump perfectly along the cab and at the tail lights. But the front of the bed sat lower by about a half inch. I suspect the bed bushings could be shot. Easy fix.

The rest of the "bump" looked pretty good.

It looks like my rear end is leaking (I know I could go to the doctor and get that cleared up...) Somewhere on here should be a tag.

Still, not too bad for a 43 year old pick up.

Additional plans after some research:

  • CV front suspension (I can reuse my power steering pump with the CV system) this would give me R&P steering, and a much better ride while offering a modest drop from original.
  • Explorer rear end with leafs would still alllow me to tow with this while getting my arse out of the sky. The explorer diff would also have rear discs. Since I have power assisted drums all around now, I would not have to switch out my proportioning valve or anything like that.
  • Big block (429 or 460) would be a requirement to tow a trailer or even just doing some donkey draggin (read=hauling a$$).
  • She would need a loaping idle breathing through dual exiting out the bed sides just forward of the rear wheels. (almost NASCAR style.)
  • Bucket seats and console.
  • Rear roll pan with receiver hitch below.
  • Shaved emblems and wide shoes all around.
  • 1970 Mustang 22 gallon gas tank out back.

Clean and mean baby.

The possibilities are endless! Looks like you have a solid clean slate to work withThumbs Up A 390 would haul some lumber tooWink. When I was in high school I worked for a garden center & we bought a used '69 F100 from one of the landscapers that we wholesaled to, 390 c6 turquiose & white, I would use it for deliveries every chance I got, the boss would always ask were all the gas would go.

After chipping away at 43 year old road grime and caked axle grease leakage that was about 1/2" think in most places (and petrified hard to boot) I finally found the tag and it reads as:

WDM-H               1HA
3.25        9       330A

If I am reading it correctly, this is a 9" rear end with a non-locking 3.25 gear.

Christmas in October.
I got a couple of boxes in the mail the other day from some small items I ordered. I needed to replace my dash bezel really bad and I wanted a different steering wheel (also some other small bits)
Yes they are sitting on a recliner. I have four recliners in my garage and a beer stocked fridge. I treat my visiting buds right, lol

Also a couple of weeks ago I bought a cobra jet type hood scoop from Grantorinosport351 in Texas. Here it is sitting on my hood. Thanks again Bryan.

Okay, had my coffee, headed out to the garage.
