I think it was autokrafters, its been a while sonce I bought it, and the paint is new.lol. I nerd to repost my story/timeline from the welcome mat. But.yeah each side had three sections, an it took forever to get lined up correctly. Mainly because ive only done solid stripes that u cut before, so this was a lil different

(copy of post i did in "the welcome mat" forum)

ive been using this site ever since i received this car in 2011, and figured its probly time to post some pics. you have all been helpful in my decision making, so here it is my 1973 gran torino sport begining till now, its most of the way done now, just some putting back together to do. when i recieved car, it had been converted to a 429 block(supposidly rebuilt and mild upgrades(he was racing it)) with a c6 from a 351 c4, other than that, the car(or what was left of it) is all original, including paint. put crites headders on it, stealth intake, and single chamber exhaust as my little touches.

car when i first recieved it

after it was primed(was this way for a year.lol)

decided lights were too dim, so i did the h1/h4 conversion

getting ready for paint

this is what my bumpers looked like before i decided to paint them(and beat the heck outa them cuz they had been hit). reason for painting and not getting new/rechrome was 400.00 each price every company i saw had on them

bumpers painted flat black with rattle can and with chrome bumper bolts

and of course with the bumpers black i had to also do the trim the same color

car painted back to original color 1973 saddle bronze code 5T

car with new chrome magnum 500 rims 15x10 rear 15x8 front with magnum 500 spinner caps also put new springs in because guy before me had lowered car before putting the big block in and couldnt go over dips in road. new springs were too tall though.

so i cut em down alil

by the way, for the rear tire its a 295/50/15 radial t/a

rim is 10" wide with 4.5" backspacing

they fit just perfect

trim back on

new weather stripping all around and waiting on front bumper to go back on

rear bumper on

and this is where i stop  till i get my front bumper on (should be this weekend)

this is a copy of my post from the welcome mat forum for anyone that wanted to see the transformation

Thanks for the pixs with the stripe.  My Ranchero is the same color, but I have never seen a copper car with a stripe.  Looks real nice, makes me want to spend more $$$

The stripe looks awesome. That car needs to be in Dawsonville with us.

Wow..this is an oldie but a goodie. What caught my attention was the color discription of the original paint. Said it has a 5T code which is what we think mine actually is suppose to be, but....the color doesn't look like mine did before I did the repaint. Even before he had it repainted, so I'm back to wondering again.

IDK, different lighting really plays with the color on my car as I'm sure it did on this 73, so maybe they are the the same color before they both got a repaint. Mine for sure is no longer the original color and I guess the mix on this 73 could be a touch off? It just doesn't seem to have as much orange tone as the original? Don't get me wrong, It looks nice, I'm just trying to find out the facts on my original color and learn a little something along the way. Maybe some day I can come across another 5T colored car in person and see if it is the same with my own eyes.

Is the paint code for this color 5M? I think it's the same as our 73.

Here's the door tag from our original 73, I think 5M was called Medium Copper Metallic.

Factory Ford service manual codes says 5M is "Medium Chestnut Metallic".

I'm sure they had different terms for colors, I found this one on this forum under the door tag decoder section, I'm guessing the "SM" is supposed to be a "5M"???, whatever they call it, it's a very distinctive color
