happy day, happy day!!!
in the process of inquiring with summit about the timing set that came with my 351M/400 engine kit that i bought about a year and a half ago, they informed me that i could return the entire kit, minus a 20% restocking fee,(because of how long its been) and they let me exchange it for an "extreme energy" engine kit from comp cams for my 460, along with a 45 dollar refund. i just sent back the original kit earlier, so that ate my refunda mount, but now im getting a kit that i can use and it didnt cost me any extra out of my pocket!!!    [<:o)]

im contemplating the idea of looking for d0ve heads or sticking with my d3ve heads. what would be a fair/reasonable price for a good pair of d0ve heads?
with a stock 74-460 having the d3ve heads, i think i get about 8.8:1 compression, (or so thats what ive read up on.)
if i were to put d0ve heads on, does anybody have an idea as to what my compression would be changed to?

anyone have any idea about the head questions i asked previously?

also, i found a NOS set of 74 gts wheel moldings and rocker trim, they dont have the moldings that are on the rear quarters or fenders, just the pieces between the front and rear wheels. the guy is asking 250 dollars, is that a reasonable price? it seems kind of high to me...

I think that 74 460 will be more in the 7.5-1 to 8.0-1 CR range, that 8.8-1 was the police interceptor 460. Lots of misinformation on head cc, piston type used for the 72 and up years. I think you could drop a set of dove heads on and be just about right for todays pump gas. Trim price sounds good for NOS IMO

I have seen prices all over the place on them and I think they have dove-a's, dove-b and dove-c. not sure what the difference between them all is or which is better. Any small chamber bbf head would help a low compression smogger motor though. just a head swap and a 1970 style timin chain set would be worth 60+ hp I bet. There are a couple rebuilt pairs on ebay for $850 and $950 or best offer right now.

The 460 ford site has a butt load of info on the dove heads. That's the only 74 I've seen other than the sales books. I have a 76 cougar with the moon roof/460 and I keep an eye out for them. I've only come across 1 other.
