Just after it's first bath in years, it looked pretty good, But it's not as nice as it seems. I knew it had its flaws as soon as looked it over the first time I inspected it and am up for the task.  I'm calling it a "soft" restoration because I'm only doing major repairs on the sheet metal/paint and interior. The rest of the car (suspension, transmission and engine compartment) will only get a basic cleaning and inspection, a little rattle can paint touch up and replacing only what is needed to make it safe and reliable.  This is a driver folks!

I've been working on removing the rusty parts from the car and collecting misc parts for build.

I was fortunate enough to locate a fender the same color so I didn't have to trim it out. It did need a little work, but not much. Overall it was a nice find, It came from our friendly car dismantler in Chattanooga TN. thanks Joe (unlovedford).

The other quarter panel was a little more rough. I was planning on putting an aftermarket panel on it, but again, I was fortunate to come across a parts car with a near perfect panel. The rest of the car's sheet metal was either bent up badly or rusted out (including the passenger's side quarter, that had been replaced before) So I was able to install a nice factory one instead.

my 74 has the same exterior trim as yours, just different color. actually one rocker was missing as well as all 4 wheel well trim!!! thought i'd never find those pieces!!! so don't let anything happen to them while they are off the car for bodywork, they can be hard to find!

I only have a couple of old 35 mm photos of this one. I would not even know where to find them.

I hate that Dan, but I understand, there are several cars that I've had over the years that I don't even have one picture of and now wish I did :)

I Have All My Trim Johnny and it's in great shape, but I'm not going to re-install the mid body rub strip or any of the FORD letters. I'm going for a more modern styled Torino.

My first one had opera windows, I thought it looked fine, especially with the vinyl top, but I did often wish back then that it didn't have them so I could put a stripe on it like a S&H. I wasn't about to go to all the trouble of covering them over.

looks promising! but i'd check under that asphalt sound deadening material, if it's loose and not sealed down moisture could have gotten under it an rotted the metal

Yeah, first thing I did LOL, was also looking for the build sheet, heard tell of some of them being under the sound insulation. No dice. Actually there has been some previous repairs made to the drivers side front and rear pans that I will be re-doing, that's the repairs needed I mentioned above. The possible location clue on the build sheet was under the driver's side rear floor pan insulation, which has been replaced with a thick grey felt padding glued down with spray upholstery adhesive, you can see some of it in the second picture. The goal for now is to do a quick repair reseal for the summer, so I can make a few local car shows and pull it all back out this winter and replace those two pans.
