    Posted: 12-March-2020 at 2:14AM
With much dilemma, I have decided to sell my wagon.  I love my wagon, but I want a 69-70 Country Squire.  I don't have the money or room for two wagons.

1 of 230 '76 Mercury Montego MX Villager wagons built with a 460.  Cold A/C (converted to R134).  Mostly original.  Front suspension rebuilt with 1" drop lowering springs.  New wheels and tires.  New exhaust.  New shocks.

Considering its rarity, I'm not sure where to start.  I realize there's not huge demand for Montego's.  I'm going to aim high, and see where it goes.  Asking $12k.

Below is how it currently looks.  I can provide detailed pics to anyone who is seriously interested.

Hello Jeff.

I saw your post on FB too.

If I were you, I would ignore the comments, dig up the previous sale info on that low millage Torino squire, the one that sold on bring a trailer (Jay Lenno supposedly bought) for like 134k and play it off that one as a comp.

I would try ebay too, spring is in the air, and tax returns are coming in.

When you compare it to other vehicles in that asking price range, and condition, I think it stands out.

Best of luck with the sale, it's a cool car.

Jeff, I can't say I am happy to see your wagon for sale, but its worthwhile if you have your heart set on a 69 to 70 Country Squire. I think your asking price isn't out of line considering how hard it is to find a decent wagon these days. Good luck with the sale and I hope your wagon finds a good home.

Thanks everyone.  If it doesn't sell, then I'll just keep it.  I love my wagon, and am in no hurry to sell it.

Jeff what wheels are those. I need tires mine are 18 yrs old and dry rotting.Thinking of mag type 17 in. not a fan of large rims but put a 16 in ranger on it because one would not hold air It look pretty good.

They’re staggered 15x7 fronts, and 15x8 rears. They’re aluminum made by American Racing. They also have them in 17”

Noticed in the Bangshift pictures that your engine didn't have the "oil filter" on the air cleaner.

Hmm.  I never thought of that.  Did mid-size Fords have that "oil filter"?  I don't seem to remember seeing it on others.  The engine compartment of this Montego is pretty much untouched, but you never know what folks do over the years.
