Bushings for REAR sway bar ref D2OZ-5B486-B (Torino 73/76 or Tbird 1973 or LTD 77)

I'm actually working on a 1978 Kellison Stallion.

The Ford rear sway bar is the same on Torino 73/76 or Tbird 73 or LTD 77

and the bushings that goes into the eye on the end of the REAR sway bar ref D2OZ-5B486-B is something impossible to find.

It's possible to replace them with small modification (cut the length and use a

little bigger axe) with this one : 77 04 001 371 for Renault.

I know that Renault bushings are something rare at the US, but :

The bushing Renault was using on R12/R15/R17 AND DACIA

John,

Looking thru the Energy Suspension catalog, I'm going to assume there is a "9-" in front of those part numbers (universal application)? What part number did you use for the actual sway bar bushing? My rear bar measures about .687" od...

Thanks!

John,

Can you post a few pics showing these bushings installed/mocked up? Won't be long until I'll begin reassembly of the rear end and would like to have all my ducks in a row....

THANKS

yes the inner sleeve shouldn't be an issue to find but i think he's more concerned with the outer shell that's pressed into the bar....

if you're asking how i did it using the poly ones ... i greased the bushing and used a socket just smaller the the outer dia. and carefully pressed it in without the inner sleeve so it can squish to get through the other shellWink once its in place then you can slide or press the inner sleeve in

I got a good look at what the rear wåsway bar link actually looks like today. There is an outer metal sleeve which is part of the sway bar. The Bushing is pressed through this sleeve and then the inner bushing sleeve is pushed in.
Great! Now I know.
