I am planning on putting a carb spacer on my engine but need some info.  My car is a 1973 GTS with a 429.  It has an Edelbrock performer intake and a Holley 4150 carb.  I was wondering if anyone else has this combo and if there will be a problem with hood clearance if a spacer is used.  Also if anyone has this combo with a spacer how thick a spacer was used.  thanks. -  Dave

I run a 1" thick phenolic spacer on my 472 with an Edelbrock Performer and 4150 carb, with using a 14x3 air filter(minimum for a BBF),within a stock Lincoln drop base lower air cleaner assembly and an aluminum air cleaner lid, the front of the air cleaner is above the hood line about 1/2-3/4" (I cut out hood for air cleaner). Installing a 1/2" spacer instead and a different drop base air cleaner, may just allow your non-modified hood to close. Hope this helps.

Sorry I never got back on this, I am going to try a 1 "phenolic spacer and then play with a drop base air cleaner to see if I have enough space.  Thanks for the responses. -  Dave
