Do any of you guys know where I might find carpet that will work with the 4 speed manual transmission hump? I contacted Dearborn Classics and they stated that their carpets will not work with 4 speeds.

I got mine through AutoKrafters but to be honest, I'm not at the point where I can install it (or even test fit for that matter). However, it was ordered specifically for a 4 speed.

These guys list it for the Ranchero but not for the Gran Torino with 4 speed. You might ask if you can get the Ranchero front and the Gran Torino back section.

I ordered mine thru A1 Auto which sells Auto Custom Carpet. ACC will sell to the public but not ay a reduced price. I save almost $150 by ordering thru A1 Auto.
I'll be picking it up on Friday so I'll take some pics and post here for you.
Many of the Montego GT guys have ACC carpet in their cars and they recommended them to me.
I just looked on eBay but didn't see a listing under 72 Torino but there are listings under 72 Montego.
4 speed is same as floor shifted Auto and the Montego GT is the same as the Torino sport floor.
Another tip when placing an order. Ask them to order it un-trimmed. It will give you a couple of extra inches in the width so you can do final trimming.
Oh and shipping was free!!!  Price was $187.50   ACC wanted $289 + $35 to ship
Have a look here but go to the web site to find the 4 speed listing;

Just checked the box my carpet came in. It's from ACC also. Application is listed as 1972 Torino Automatic. As Ian said, standards and auto floor shift use the same hump (I think) so carpet should interchange.
Just checked the AutoKrafters site. Their carpet is $169.95 but I don't know how much shipping is.

why don't you just pick an automatic carpet and cut the area you need?

An added note.
The 1972-1973 Ranchero GT and GTS had an optional carpet that had large rubber inserts on both the drive side and the passenger side where as the standard carpet only had a small rubber insert on the drive side. My 1972 Ranchero GT 4 speed came with the duel rubber inserts.

My original carpet that I was not able to save due to 17 years of sitting in a barn, and pretty much the entire smashed glass of all windows matted into the carpet made saving my originals a no-way deal.
My GTS had the big floor mats.
Replacement carpet for the floor shift cars, you have to cut for the opening and trim as needed.
I have had my grey carpet from ACC new in the box for 10+ years and will finally be using it in the '72 GTS.
My carpet has a large molded mat, and heavy jute padding on the back side.
I paid $120 from a local shop.

Thanks for all the links and advise guys!! I'll sift through it all today and see what I find.

And suggestions on a backing or sound dampning material?
