I've been given mixed advice about putting coil spring insulators on my front and rear springs. On one hand, I've heard I should get them to dampen/quiet noise and vibration of the springs. On the other hand, I've heard they don't really eliminate much noise and springs don't seat well with insulators.

Curious to hear your thoughts on:

Insulators - yes or no?

If yes; on top, bottom or both? On front, rear or both?

I used the original isolators on my front springs, I can't remember if my rear springs had any, but if they did I would have reinstalled.  The front ones seem to help reduce spring noise. They are pretty thin, so they didn't effect the spring seating properly.  I just used to couple of piece of electrical tape to hold them in place when I installed the springs.

Did you use them on top of springs, bottom or both?

Just the top of the springs is all you need if you use them.

I used them in my'76. The original up front were in great shape, so I kept them, top only. New ones top and bottom in the rear. The isolators made no noticeable change in ride height or handling. I did notice a reduction in road noise. This was done when I changed out the springs. CVPI up front and CC803 in the rear. All from Moog.
