So I was planning to put this drivetrain into a different vehicle, but decided to sell of that car and put this into the Ranchero. It's a Coyote 5.0 motor, and a TCI Streetfighter C4 (with some upgrades), and a Performance Automatic bellhousing.

I'll post pics of the progress as I work on it. Big smile

Got the PCM today.... will be sending it off to my buddy to disable the PATS. Just collecting parts right now. Will be pulling the nose off the car soon :)

Great project! If you don't mind, could you give me a ballpark idea of the cost to disable the PATS? I am using a wiring harness from a Mountaineer that was so equipped. Thanks.

Joe, if you're using something older, it can be done in the tune. Unfortunately the Copperhead PCMs (5.0 processors) can't be turned off by the tune itself. It has to be physically modified.

Cheaper, easier, smaller, more aftermarket support, more trans tunnel clearance, no need for electronic control, and crusing rpms won't be that much different with 3.00 gears then an OD trans with higher gears.

Plus I had it... this swap was originally going in a MustangII.

Dang, even with the front sheet metal off, that is one clean looking (survivor)Ranchero. Sounds like an awesome project, I am more of a BBF guy but those Coyote's are great power plants! BTW, I'm envious of the garage/man cave. Good luck on the project and keep us posted.

Yeah, It's a Hybrid...It burns gas and tires.

That is very clean. Noticed the good-looking bias ply tires. What fun it would be to roast them with Coyote power.

Don't be jealous...that's not a man cave (I wish!). That's my work.

Radiator, support, and related removed. Everything else disconnected for engine/trans removal.

Also scored a TCI 10.5" 2800 stall converter for $150. Should work well with this setup. Smile

After everything for the conversion has been fit, I plan to take apart the entire front end and refinish and replace everything. Might end up with different upper control arms anyway, for exhaust clearance.

Have you thought about doing a Crown Vic front crossmember / suspension on it? Was thinking that the Coyote is a rear sump pan, and the old suspension is a front sump / rear steer.....

Cool project!  Looking forward to your updates and progress.

I'm digging that 66-67 Fairlane in the background.  Assuming that's not yours?
