Hello experts! So Crane has a pedestal mount bolt down full roller 1.72 5/16" that was factory on Cobra 302/5.0 with a ford part number. Has anyone ran these on a Cleveland and did you have to change pushrod lenght or any other mods to make them fit? thank in advanxce.

Those were on 94 and 95 Cobra's for sure, 1.7:1 rockers. I'm not sure about the 93 Cobra, they probably were there too but that one hasn't been mentioned as much as the two SN95's(94-04 Mustang's). You can likely find a used set on the Corral given a lot of hunting and patience, they pop up occasionally.

Understand though, any pedestal rockers(the small 5/16" bolt), those are weaker than 3/8" stud rockers. The stud or bolt is the weakest link. Those are less reliable as rpm's go up, they will all break eventually if the rpm's get high enough  for long enough.

So pedestal rockers should not be used for any high rpm's, OEM Cobra's had a rev limiter set to about 6k. Those engines nosed over before 6k, factory never meant for them to run 6000rpm constantly.

thank you, i found  set but was reluctant on buying them since i wasnt sure if they're work. I want to get a set for my 400 that wont see any RPM's past 5000. It has an four barrel intake, hooker hedders, mallory ignition and dual exhaust. Smile

There you go, 5000 rpm is a good limit for those kind of rockers. I'm not sure if the pedestals match for the older heads versus the late 302 type. You could hunt for people reporting if they do, I haven't read of it. The length of the rockers would have to be a close match of course. I've used two sets of them, both Crane, but that was well after I sold my 72 Gran Torino in about 1987.

Crane sells a set of 1.73 rockers and a kit for the studs. I bought that kit. I use hardened, stock length push rods and have an excellent pattern on top of my valve.

I have a 393 stroker Cleveland that is a torque monster (500+ lb ft) and don't turn it past 5200 rpm (no need). I have Aussie 302C heads that have been blended and exhaust port opened up. Seven years into it, I have no issues. I did swap to Scorpion rockers about 2 years ago. I mistook a couple of bad lifters for rocker arm chatter.

My opinion is that this will be a good set up for your intended purpose.
