Does a 460 with the Edelbrock Air Gap intake work in a Torino/etc? I know it sits a bit higher than a regular Edelbrock Performer, and the factory style air cleaner is not that far from the hood as it is on most engine combos in these cars.

My Gray car has a Stealth with a Holley and an OEM 460 air cleaner. The pad has a nice blue ring around it. But no dents.

I have a 460 in my 68 torino with an Offy Port-o-sonic and it doesn't fit under the hood.

Offy is about 1/2" talller than the regular Performer RPM.  I used to be able to get the POS to fit with the hood bracing removed or without an aircleaner..  The RPM just barely rubbed the hood with the bracing intact and a drop base filter.

The victor is a tall intake (though shorter than the upcoming TFS intake), but I have seen that fit under a stock hood with a very low short filter setup and a 4150 carb..

If you compromise the filter to fit a tall intake under a stock hood, you'd be better off with a ported Torquer 2 intake from what I've heard.

On my 68 we are going to add to the hood scoop that is on it to make it taller and still have the stock look.

Any word on a 72 with the GT hood, 460, Victor intake, and 4500 carb?

It will fit (without any spacers), but the air cleaner will be your big decision point.  I have seen a Victor and 4150 fit under a stock flat hood so the extra height from the 4500 should be easy to accomodate with the factory scoop

If your worried about hood space go with the low profile Edelbrock Torker II manifold. I pulled 12.30 sec. 1/4 mile passes using a 1000CFM throttle body bolted on top with that manifold. I switched to the Victor 460 manifold, used the same 1000 CFM TB, 4" K&N with a 2" drop air cleaner base (see pictures below). I have the factory GT hood and everything fits with no rubbin on the underhood paint.

I'm not sure how much higher a carb is compared to my Holley TB, so here's the link to my TB.

When the hood is shut all you can see through the scoop is the K&N filter.

The clincher for me is that I got an absolute KILLER of a deal on the Victor intake ($85 from an old ford racer with more parts than cars) so I'm gonna use it, I figure worst case scenario, if it doesn't fit then I take the plain jane hood, cut a big ol hole in it, and mount up an appropriate scoop.

I always wanted to take a Tunnel Ram with dual 4-barrels and stick it through a flat hood. Maybe you can sell your Victor to help pay for a TR.Big smile
