Oh John, I hate that, it's terrible to see that front so mangled. I'm glad to hear that you weren't hurt badly.

That does look like a possible repair, hopefully the frame isn't too bad, and the main body survived completely. The engine bay will be a mess for sure, I hope the engine didn't get moved and damage other things.

 yeah im surprised too they had to have been hauling!!!Angry strange thing is the 2 cars in front of me pulled out and never saw any vehicles coming that direction... i looked didn't see any coming only from the right 1/4 mile down there so i pulled out turning left got half way through my turn saw a light colored truck fly by 6" in front of me  im like whoa wtf as it went by then bam my car spun 45* and i got out and looked around didnt see any one???? then later theres a dark blue minivan way out in the field???? a guy at the show later told me that van passed him right before this happened going 80 mph (speed on that hwy is 55) idk only thing i can figure the wht truck swerved and missed me the blue van was on his bumper trying to pass him too??? thats a bad hwy out there!!!Angry

Geez, back in the ‘80’s I had a car stop short in front of me in my ‘76 4dr Gran Torino...... I pushed the rear bumper of his new Nissan Maxima right up to the drivers seat— damage to my car was limited to just an ever-so-slight flatting if the very front center point of the bumper.  The reporting cop took one look at his car, then my car, and says “what are you driving there... a TANK?!?!”

But holy crap, John, that’s some serious impact there!!

First, glad you're OK.

Do you know if it bent the frame? From the limited view of the picture, it appears all the damage was forward of the firewall, so that gives hope that it could be salvaged with new fenders and a new hood, but of course that all goes out the window if the frame is bent. Unless the body could be put onto another frame...?
1972 Gran Torino station wagon, light blue, 351C 2V, prior owner upgraded to 4V (2V heads), originally had a C4 but prior owner changed to C6 for some reason.
