haven't done much lately. put in some new 50watt halogen back up bulbs, and sand blasted/welded/filled a few small spots on the front bumper filler panel, ready for primer and paint.

It works!! What color did you paint it? I had to clean and paint mine because the interior is White and the inside of the seal is part of the interior trim |

Well done John, and how did you polish the trim and make it match well?
I ask because I have bought three polished pieces that are very very shiny, while the NOS pieces I have are just very nice but not a match at all to the others. Regards, |

allan: that story still brings tears of laughter to my eyes every time i think of that story
don: those trim pieces are clear anodized, if some you have are shiny like a mirror, they may have been sanded down past the anodizing and into the aluminum, i had to do that on the door pieces they look a lot better in the pics than they really are! i'll post a pic later of my homemade buffer Edited by californiajohnny - 19-December-2015 at 5:52PM |

thanks adam! i can't wait, i'm tired of parts everywhere, parts lost, buying duplicate parts --then finding the initial ones later, parts in several places in the garage, parts in several places in the house, parts parts and more parts! i think the only major part left to buy is carpet!

Hmm, the trim has a clear top layer you say. I think I'll have to have everything I use polished to match.
Look at this eBay listing if you would, I bought two trim pieces just like this two weeks ago. That seller does a great job polishing, and fortunately the used parts he began with had no real defects to speak of. http://www.ebay.com/itm/72-73-74-75-76-77-78-79-Ranchero-bed-trim-moldings-upper-cab-corners-SHOW-/191382920963?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c8f4f9f03 Edited by 72 RS 351 - 27-October-2014 at 7:54AM |

while looking through the stereo stash closet, i came across this pair of pioneer 6 x 9 speaker grills, well i can't have cheap pioneer covers on nice cerwin vega speakers! ... so being in a customizing mood... i removed the plastic pioneer insert, and with the use of a dremel, i ground off the raised pioneer lettering, and wood grained it to match it's all in the details!!! (could be a touch of OCD, but looks good anyway!)

Yes, Jeff was very helpful and included a note with his phone number I think too. He seems to have a decent variety of moldings available ongoing. I was pleased to find that he had the front three I needed for my bed trim. I had bought the three rear pieces in 1988, and couldn't afford the rest back then. Now I see that the two long side pieces can be bought new from an aftermarket company. John, how many door top edge moldings were available for the 72-76 models? Mine has nothing and I think most didn't either. Is that wide type you have the only other choice? I like that, but I wonder if there was another one that might be a hair narrower. That and I look forward to seeing yours when it's finished. I appreciate every picture that people post, it helps to learn about what is out there, and thus what may be useful for another car. Regards, |

thanks guys, you'll probably never see those on the speakers, but it's one of those little things, besides i'll tie in those sport door panels and make them look like they belong, and to prove to those who said i can't use those sport panels as they won't look right! (that's the worst thing to tell me -- that i can't do something!)
don: most had the 3/16" or 1/4"? wide stainless trim attached to the fuzzy. you could use one of the wide trim on your door, but you would need a wide trim for up the "B" pillar, and i don't think any rancheros had the wide trim to my knowledge, but i could be wrong???
