Hey john car is looking great!!! I see that you got your back glass in did you seal it before or after you install it or both and what did you use???? Mine leaks in the corners mine was sealed before it was install!! but I think it needs to be sealed again maybe I can do it without taking the glass out any ideas.

chris, i wanted to put some sealer on before i installed it, but i figured the rope would end up smearing it as it went in, so i sealed around the rubber with black 3m windshield urethane sealer all around the outside edge of the rubber and a small bead along the bottom of the glass and up the side about 4", i masked the glass about 1/8" away from the edge of the rubber where it meets the glass, then smoothed it out with my finger in one continuous motion so not to make any unnatural ripples in it, then remove the masking tape to leave a straight crisp edge!

and i readjusted the passenger door gap (it was always a little wide) narrowed the gap about 1/8" with the help of an internal coil spring compressor to very finely pull the gap where i wanted it, then retighten the hinge bolts Thumbs Up

Very nice, I love the details. The Gran Torino script is awesome. I've got my 91 Mark VII LSC SE to work on its fender emblems, which are very thick and snag anything it's washed with. I hope I can locate a maker of emblems to recreate the OEM part with a plastic clear covered thing like Ford was producing in the late 90's(think of a Taurus back then with a DOHC 24 valve engine(the emblem says 24 V with DOHC below it, with black on a silver background)). The aftermarket has done a fine job with these things.

For the back glass, Ultra Black RTV is great for fixing existing leaks, though the cost to do an entire window like you do John, ... it might not be too bad. The caulk size RTV is about $20 now I think, up from the $11 range I remember.

don; i used urethane in a caulking tube size it was about $20. and now days the vinyl graphics guys can do some good stickers like you're wanting, but me i'm a paint guy Wink and the dohc taurus IIRC that was the SHO?  go gettin' little s.o.b.! but try finding an engine for one! IIRC they had yamaha heads on them like my step bro's 18rgu engine we put in his celica. gotta get the new carbs on that one of these days, gotta get "the farm truck" going , gotta get my celica painted (to match his!) Wacko

I used that urethane stuff from 3M, my body man did that is, for my 93 Explorer windshield and the quarter glass of two cars. It let go of the windshield(slightly, I had a leak) and had to have it R&R'd by a windshield company. That's when I learned about how strong the modern windshield adhesive is, far better than the easily available urethane from parts sources. It's okay for the other fixed glass pieces, just don't use it up front.

I like the RTV for its resistance to heat and sunlight etc. I have it on my roof fireplace in a few places. It seals and stays in place far better than roofing caulk etc. But we all know how expensive the Ultra RTV is now. I recall when it was under $4 for a 6oz tube, now it's around $8-9 for what, 4.5oz I think it was.

Hmm, I wasn't thinking of your windshield when I posted. I wasn't poking fun at you John. I was thinking of my truck that the glass let go from the vehicle after about a year. I didn't know it had, until I took it to a place to check on pricing. They were able to slide the windshield slightly at one corner, that was bad. I was lucky it didn't let go while driving it.

The glass isn't expensive to buy straight from Ford, as many have found out. The installation labor is well over $100, which is why thy all gladly come to where you are to do it on site. But they do use the best adhesive, and an epoxy primer to make a good bond. I'll try to keep letting them do my windshields. Regards,
Don

it's a light coat the first time, it's what they call a "tack coat" then you lay on a "full wet coat" the next time, and so on.

no it's viper red.

John, I prefer a pinstripe on the paint line between colors!
Some get a thin/fat double and others a single but, every car I do, I put on a pin stripe.
It just sets it off in my eyes.

I think yours looks great!
