getting ready to remove  the windshield, some prior owner decided spray foam would be good to seal under the windshield (thats not where the leak was) IMO tweekers shouldn't be allowed to work on cars or go into home depot either! Angry looks like they used 4 cans of the stuff!

that contractors grade expanding insulation foam is bad news in auto use. the way it works, when it cures it produces moisture & holds it there against the metal

can you say RUST ?

I was going to use it to fill/sound deaden my A pillars & roof cavities until I found out about the air cure method & the results. auto grade expanding foam is completely different

yeah, those dumb a$$es not only used spray foam, but butyl rubber sealant over the windshield trim and along the drip rails (on the out side) they also made a cover for the cowl vents out of 1/4" plywood- screwed down with metal roof screws, and foam camper tape added over the passengers side window door seal Wacko all they did was make my job harder, now i have to get all that crap off of the trim Angry. the good news is there is no rust on the back sides of the fenders or at the bottom of the body in by the door hinge area ClapClapClap!!!

that area where the air comes in for the vent (the raised part to keep water flowing around it and air in from above it )it is rusted loose, i found that a while back when working on the wiper transmission. probable due to leaves and crap in there for years, so water runs right down in there, i'll fix that when i get it all disassembled, dash out of the way, and such.

I spent I don't remember how much time gingerly freeing the glass from the sealant only to have the friggin' glass crack right down the center when I started lifting it free of the opening!!

New windshield awaiting install...
