well the left rear is making some rubbing and creaking noises... had to trim the rear bumper flange a little bit, rubbing sound gone creaking still there, figured it's the spring since i forgot the rubber insulator on it, no big deal pull that strut back out and put it in there, 5 minute job, right?  WRONG!!!
while pitting it back together i cross threaded the nut somehow? trying to get it back off...took heat twice and lots of impact gun finally it snapped the end of the shaft off in the nut ShockedOuchConfused called around...nobody has a new strut in stock Angry ordered one from o'reileys $104!!! Shocked talk about ripping a guy off! saw the same monroe strut on ebay for $25!!! they claim auto parts mark up is 400% case in point right there! Ouch so i filed the remaining threads and was able to reuse it temporarily using a 12mm lugnut WinkBig smile will put the new one on tomorrow when it arrives....
creaking sound gone BTW Big smile

28 i'm sure? it's from a small bearing 72 differential but the splines shouldn't matter from the bearing size...

Hey John,
Nothing crazy here. This is a 1974 Gran Torino Sport. My wife, daughter and I drove it to Florida from Massachusetts back in. 2007. It rained from Massachusetts to the South Carolina border. I did that because some other classic car owner, said that I'd never drive it out of my own neighborhood. He lives in St. Petersburg. It took all day to get it ready for car night. We went to Biff Burger and I parked it next to his 1967 GTO. Once my daughter let it be known that we drove it down, the old timers were all over us. They let me know that as long as I drive it, it will never look any better than it does. I miss that one. Someone offering more money than it was worth has it now. Its still in Massachusetts.

If nobody can see your place from the road, your sign thief has been a visitor at one time or another. Trailer looks pissa.

Nice work John!  That should hold up way better than a wood deck. Looks great too.

I had a '77 Vette for a long time. Red with oxblood and white interior. Back in 1995, someone offered me a lot more money than it was worth. Yup, let it go.
The guy who bought it ended up wrecking it.
I did the heater core on that one in my driveway. I had help from a friend. He drank my beer while I worked. Frustrating then. Great memory now.

I agree, I have worked on C3s before (also C1 and C2s).  Years ago, a friend of mine let me keep his '78 L82 for a week or so while I tuned it and did some other work for him.  I had lots of fun cruising in that Vette.

Glad the heater core wasn't too bad.  Can't be as bad as doing the Evap cores on a mid to late 90s Cavalier.  When I was at GM we used to do those all the time.  I really disliked those POS.

in the past few weeks i decided to finally get the ford courier back on the road to make a couple of our local cruisesWink been parked for IDK 7 years???... took 2 wheel cylinders and 4 new tires. currently working on custom late 80's caddy tail lights but had to custom fab a pair of tail light fillers for the courier lights then cut out for the caddy buckets to french in...

also drove the celica a couple times recently, remembering the front calipers were seized a couple years ago, and no longer availableOuchCry but a guy on one of the celica groups gave me a link to a complete bolt on wilwood kitBig smile spent a couple hours figuring out which bracket was for which side Confused when you spend $1K on a brake kit they don't come with instructions, but now if it were some cheap junk from ikea... it would have instructions in 4 languages and be missing some bolts LOL but it's nice to have all 4 brakes working againBig smile
