I'm still using my factory headers on my 73 351 cj. Any thoughts on switching it up?

Did the 351CJ come with headers in 73?? Not cast iron manifolds?? Regardless, a lot of options out there for switching things up for cheap with the 351CJ. I'm not a small block guru but I'm sure others will have some options. Are you looking for more power or just a different sound?

actually the options are drying up fast, Hooker has discontinued almost if not everything 351C-4V
I found a NIB NOS set of 30 year old Casler headers & had them coated FPA makes a set of long tubes, I know there's at least 1 complaint regarding a big block but I don't recall ever hearing any issues with the 351C Sanderson... a member is trying to figure out which part number will work best in the Torino chassis

I believe they are cast iron manifolds,I stand corrected.that being said,some headers might cut down the weight and give more power not?

That was me. I found this video: That guy put FC4's on a full-size Ford with a 351M. He stated in the comments there was lots of room. I am assuming they should fit the Torino's too, since the full-size cars and Torinos used the same manifolds. I don't really know those70's fullsize Fords, but they chassis do look similar to Torinos. I just am not sure enough to spend the money at this point with the international shipping ad all...

I had to read that one twice. You mean south of Vancouver, BC not Vancouver, WA. 253 is western washington outside Puget Sound main areas (425 & 206). I looked at their website, did not see an address.

I am over in Ontario, so that's no where close to me. Something in Michigan or near Buffalo are my closest points to the US. if someone looked at that video I posted with the headers, does anyone have an opinion if they will fit a Torino chassis? I am not overly familiar with those 1970's fullsize Fords and how close they are to our cars.

Hi Vince, is your car a manual trans? That link goes to a header set that says fits manual trans, which may not work for an automatic. I'm going to need 1.75" headers for a Boss 302 into a Gran Torino, that should be interesting to locate. |

My car is an auto. I was talking about the Sanderson FC4 headers (shorties). In the video link I posted, a guy installed these on a 1970's Merc Fullsize wagon. His comments below said they fit with lots of room. So I am thinking they *should* fit a 1972+ Torino too, but don't know. I was just seeing if anyone else had any experience with these fullsize cars to have an idea if there is enough similarities for them to fir the midsize chassis.

[QUOTE=Billy C]am I missing something?
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/big-12118flt/overview/year/1974/make/ford/model/gran-torino [QUOTE] nice price but there's no collectors on them to speak of, and Clevelands are said to really like their collectors I forget what the hitch was last time I looked at them, I think it was the trans fitment? then again I've used headers with a C6 that were noted to not fit also, but the linkage arm was darn >< close

I have fpa headers on my 351c. Ceramic coated, ball and socket design for the collector area. $825. Yes expensive but worth every penny. No leaks no clearance issues and no bottoming out over a speed bump. They did a lot of testing with these headers and a 400 to 500 hp engine made more hp with the smaller diameter header , I think that was the 1 5/8 pipe instead of the 1 7/8. They claim they have the dyno sheets to prove it. They would have sold me either one for the same price. I took their advice and bought the smaller ones. Good luck. ..Rick
