I picked up a new Kenwood head unit today, with Ipod connection, USB and Bluetooth. A car guy buddy is giving me a pair of very nice 6x9 speakers. I might put those on the shelf behind the rear seats. Anyone know what the front door clearance is for speakers? I'm thinking a pair of round 6" speakers for the doors. Cool

Clap the doors are made for 5 1/4" round, but 6 1/2" round will work, i had my 6 1/2"s in there until i went with the sport panels and not wanting to cut them i moved them to the kick panels instead

I am renting a shop/hoist in May to scrape and grind the surface rust off the frame. It passed a safety recently so it's ok. I'm using POR 15 to cover the frame once it's clean, but it's sticky so I'll use my Heisenberg suit. Next Friday I'm going up to see how she's coming along. Beer

I'd also considering spraying some sort of rust proofing inside the frame to keep it from rusting from the inside out.

I went to the painter yesterday on my way out of town to visit some friends. Front and back ends are sanded and ready for paint. He's still working on the door hinges. Thumbs UpMy guess is another 3-4 weeks. I will post pics when I return next week. Did some nice repair work along the bottom of the doors. Door panels were off so I measured the factory cut holes for speakers....5" round. I have to measure the pre-cut holes on the back shelf also, they are oblong. Maybe 6x9? Anyone know?Question

bottom of this page shows the rear package tray speakers...

did not take any pics of the door rounds but I do believe they were 5" or whatever the standard 5 round is. They DO NOT match up to the factory rectangular door speaker covers. I was not worried about that.

I was at a car shop yesterday, saw some used 14" spoke hubcaps on the wall. Asking $250 for all 4. Very similar to my originals. I'm selling my original wheels and tires when my new ones go on. I will put them on Kijiji here but cheaper than that.

huh? i think that's where i saw the paint codes i used for mine, no i think it was from "movie mike's hero car" but i didn't use the toner #'s for the white (paint store said it was crazy money) so we went with PPG arctic white! it's a pure white color Big smile

starskytorino.com quoted Movie Mike for the colour codes and names. Seems to be a couple of choices for the colours. Viper red or 2B Bright red. Supposedly Viper red is more "red" red, and 2B has a slight orange tint. I figure black is black. I told my painter the brightest white. He's painting the stripe first, then the pinstripe, then red.

right, vider red is more red, but it sure "pops" in the bright sunlight! i think mine has a lot to do with the fact that i used white sealer under the red (remember red, yellow, green are "transparent" colors) i noticed that sealer thing when i painted the other front bumper filler stone guard things that i got from that yard--they were original silver, i didn't seal them with white primer, just sanded and sprayed red over them. i can see a slight difference in the red Confused i can't wait to see yours done and with your new wheels!!!Big smile

Painting it next weekend....Thumbs Up..I got lock cylinder pads from Macs auto. The door and trunk locks need new ones, not a surprise as 40 year old rubber rings tend to dry up....LOL....I'm taking them to the painter this week, I'll take some pics and go over last details. I gave him a pile of pics of the stripe that I like, rounded at the back like the Nike swoosh. He seems to get it. After paint it will be a week or two for them to re-assemble the beast. Then off to get my new wheels installed and rake adjusted...Cool...Then it's go time.
