Yep. I had a friend years ago with two 1969 Cyclones. One was a 428 CJ, maroon with gold stripes and black interior. Perfect shape. The other was a Cale Yarborough, CJ, pretty nice, but no engine or transmission. Loved both of those cars and missed my chance owning them both.
He kept goading me about racing him in my '70 GS. I figured that his was faster (because his was really nice), so I just humored him. Finally, one day we lined them up on a not-yet-opened section of freeway here locally. Quite a few of us gathered around, since we were all novice gearheads, and we didn't really know what his car was capable of, nor were any of us that familiar with the performance of a 1970 Buick GS with a weird nameplate (since I'd traded for it only a few months before), LOL. |

Well, we all figured out what a GS Stage 1 was, pretty quickly. It won, by a lot. Holy crap that car would run. Cool for me at the time, but not so cool when I sold the car for a mere fraction of what it was worth later on. What a dumba$$ I was. I could just cry...

Yep, it was a 455. I had 6 GS cars throughout the years, 2 of them Stage 1's, one a regular 455. The rest were 350 cars. It's disturbing to look back over your life and realize the gems you gave away, and now have fun with a 250 wagon with a 3 speed. Somebody hit me.
