hy at all..
i am doing the first Interieur work at my 72 GTS CJ i bought a few month ago and saw some things which do not look original to me or are not well adjusted. so i have 2 questions.. to the first picture. What should this be? its located in front of the passenger seat, next to the blower. cant find out where the cables are connected but i dont know the sense of this device the second picture. does anybody know how to adjust the cable of the gas pedal? its too long so that the pedal rattles all the time when i am driving. and i dont want to pull at the other side on the carb. |

1st pic is a resistor temp control for the heater system. It mounts in that hole.
2nd pic, EASY way to adjust the slack in the gas pedal... pull the cable through the and put a zip tie on/around the cable itself at the end of the cable against the cable stop. This acts like a spacer, it will take up the slack, no more rattle AND you will be able to get FULL THROTTLE out of it again. Have someone sit in the car and push the pedal to the floor while you are under the hood. With the pedal on the floor see if you can push the carb linkage any further towards full throttle. IF you can, just add another zip tie until you can't. CHEAP effective fix for stretched throttle cables. Been doing this for YEARS on cars.

think i have to mount this temp control better instead of just tape it like the preowner..
the hint with the zip tie is a good idea. will try it after work and make a test drive.
Thank you for your fast and helpful reply!!

JP:
Be very careful with that resistor...it's made of obsoletium. Get your oils off it so it doesn't create a hotspot...simple shot of brake clean should do it.
