Hi
Does anyone know the why or which model specific 72-73 lens is for what model or year? I have three different lenses. One has the silver raised edge around the lens, one has no silver. One has the silver and the perimeter of the lens is blacked out. cant seem to find any pictures with the blacked out perimeter lenses.

the red one is a 72,  the one with black perimeter is for a 73.   i dont know about the one without the silver lining, unless it has just worn off...

Malcolm is correct. All had the silver perimeter, it just wears off after a number of years from exposure.

Ok guys. That's what I was thinking. I had a few lenses that were in really good shape without the silver. Hard to believe the silver just disappeared but I'll take your word for it.
Thanks

The silver goes QUICKLY. The (formerly) NOS taillight lenses in my T-bird are almost silver-free after 10 years...

I didn't even know '72 and '73 lenses were different. Nice bit of information.

YUP... What they said!
Black outside is 73, full red is 72 and that silver just seems to be there for a factory/showroom pretty, it goes away THAT fast! Wax it a few times and presto-disappear-o

Silver Sharpie lasts longer than the original silver...
(And I did it for a joke originally)
