I just purchased a 1971 Ranchero Squire. The previous owner had a 14 year old son who removed (and lost) various strange pieces on the car. Two of the pieces that are missing are the outside A pillar pieces of metal that goes between the edge of the vinyl roof and ends behind the hood. On another 1971 Ranchero that I own, this is a painted piece. My new Ranchero has a vinyl roof, but I cannot tell from pictures of other Rancheros with a vinyl roof if the A pillar is supposed to be vinyl or just painted. Both the roof and the car are black. When searching on a popular bidding site, although these pieces exist, they stipulate that they are either textured from a vinyl roof car, or smooth, from a painted roof car.
So, are the textured ones supposed to be clad in vinyl, or are they textured so that when they are painted they look rough, like the roof?

not sure on the 70-71, but on some of the newer ford cars i've noticed trim pieces that were textured to look like vinyl but are painted, so they appear as if they are wrapped in vinyl. that would be my guess!  maybe someone else can confirm?

Trim parts around roof, or at base of c-pilar,on t-birds like mine have texture and painted to match the vinyl.
