OK duh i just looked at my spindles and the caliper bracket bolts are for/aft/perpendicular rather than parallel to the spindle

now tell me i have some crazy spindles from something that won't work Confused

i recall a member here that had different LCA's and a ride height issue ...

The 67 spindle/Knee assembly will bolt up. Don't think the rotor or caliper will work on any other spindle.
There are several different calipers/rotors in the 67-71 era, and I never tried mix and match parts, just complete knee assemblies, because we knew it worked, and that there were mix and match fitment issues. Ball joints, LCAs come to mind. Some LCAs have a deep spring pocket, which lowers the car about an inch (Think those were thunderbird, don't remember)
For bigger brakes on the 67-70 Mustang, look at Fairlane/Torino 66-71. Mustang 67-70 is a stubby Fairlane Chassis. (As is 66-69 Falcon)

also the 1967 T-bird uses a 2 piece rotor hub?

i wonder if the rotor centers the same as a 1972+ Intermediate?

digging into Rockauto listings I'm only seeing the 4 piston T-bird caliper as late as 1967,
1968 + shows a single piston unit

A-1 Cardone 184402 Right side & 184403 Left side are the 4 piston jobs,
Centric also lists numbers for calipers with hardware and loaded with Posi-Quiet pads + hardware

LTD & Galaxie also show the same calipers for 1967

==================

will the 1967 multi-piston calipers bolt directly to the spindles in place of the later caliper brackets?

This is just a suggestion but you might want to contact the manufacturer of the Mustang brakes and see what they have to say about using them in a larger and heavier Torino. If nothing else they might suggest a different proportioning setup.

That I don't know. I do know the 62-64 Galaxie is a different front end than the 65-78 Fullsize.
I would start measuring the bearings, spindle depth (space between bearings), and offset/centering of disc on the hub.
Easy way to swap to discs would be to find a spindle assembly that bolts on.

Want multi-piston???
Look at 67-71 Thunderbird. Multi piston Kelsey-Hayes set-up.
It may also be used in some of the 65-72 Fullsize fords.
Also there was a 4-piston system for 64-66 Thunderbird.

I wondered if there is a caliper made for either size small bearing rotor that had more than one piston? I am using 1975 Torino small bearing front brakes on my 1964 Galaxie drag car and would like a little better braking!!

Would I be able to use off of a 1972 formal top, front disc set up and and the rear drums on a 67 mustang. Why because the 72 is a parts cars I just have sitting in the back yard plus it's been rear ended bably. With that being the suspension is is still good and has been pondering my mind on how to figure it out. Perhaps someone can help?? Plus the 72 has some nice wheels that would look great on the mustang.
