Does anyone have any pictures of a 1974 or 1975 Mercury Cougar with tucked bumpers?

no ones has done any tucked bumper cars? I've always though a Mustang II would look good with a nice thin smaller bumper front and back.

Well I finally got the front bumper back on the car today. And it looks like I got a bonus front bumper tuck to. Obviously, Torino front bumper mounts are NOT the same as Cougar mounts...

Think about 70-72 comet bumpers and modified valences for that idea?

good to know, did you have to ditch the filler panels or trim them in any way, or just swap torino mounts on and go?

It all went right on, the only thing I noticed is that it squished the flexible corner fillers a bit. I would have trimmed them a bit if I knew before hand the bumper was going to sit back farther.

Very cool discovery.  Might have to do this to my wagon! And, just to confirm, you used 74-76 Torino bumper mounts?

I really don't know. I got them from John at blueoval6079 parts in GA. Just told him I needed from mounts for my 75 Cougar. Just assumed they were the same I guess.

The old mounts were rotted off, so can't really compare. The only different I saw was that the original mounts had completely flat square sections that bolt to the bumper itself, and on the mounts he sent me the edges of the squares were rolled over.

i moved the rear bumper on my 74 torino in about 1-1 1/2" (i'll have to check) two ways to do it...redrill the bolt holes in the frame forward the amount so that the bumper brackets/absorbers can be slid into the frame more, or "joe" the i-beam part of the bracket/absorber back the amount from the plate that mounts to the bumper reinforcement and reweld the plate back in it's new location

Joe helped weld the "rough tuck" on the rear of Lola at Louisville in 2014.
It was actually EASY.
We removed the inner bumper support, that huge heavy chunk of steel.
and the stock brackets welded directly to the bottom edge of the inner lip of the bumper itself. we used a small piece of metal to make the top weld connection to set it at the correct angle. DONE, for now anyway!
