I removed my console and it appears to be cut to fit the trans hump. Is this correct?

you could actually order those cars with a console, but still have the automatic shifter on the column. they just had a flat plate where the shifter would poke through, in that case the console is straight, not cut out for the hump.

yup, and 72/up thunderbirds used the same console with some added trim.  had one of those and had t6o do the "trim job" for the shifter hump.

My last 74 xr7 actually was a/t on column with console and shifter delete plate. I never noticed the "cut-out" because I never had it out. I thought the cut looked a little rough on this one. Is the hump for a 4 speed the same? David

yes, on the 4 speed, it's the same hump being used on the floor pan.
I thought at first the same, "man this looks hacked up" but I found out from reading, that is how it was done.

I removed my console today, preparing to weld the "new" roof panel on, and found the same rough cut out portion on mine. probably wouldn't have noticed if it wasn't for this post. Thanks. Learn something new everyday.          Ron
