While looking was told can't run trim rings on chrome wheels will not grip.Is that true. Also ford stile rings which are brushed al. do not exist in after market. There are days fords make me mad.

LTD II didn't have 15" wheels???
Are you putting on steelies, or Magnum 500 type wheels?
As far as trim rings not gripping on chrome, not entirely true but they will ruin the chrome.

yeah that's the style i like, if i were going to go beauty ring stock steel wheels i think i'd go custom widened and reversed steel (to fill up the wheel wells) with a smooth center cap (like a small baby moon style) and the beauty rings, so it looks stock but wider Wink
kinda like this but with a flatter smooth center cap   20x8"-20x9.5" REV CLASSIC 107 RALLY WHEELS FOR CHEVY MONTE CARLO 1970 1971 1972

with a smooth cap like this 2 NEW UNIQUE SMOOTHIE BABY MOON WHEELS 15X8 5.5 WITH CAPS A105654 0003

Ford changed the Magnum 500 wheels around 1974.  Prior to that they had a chromed outer rim, but in 1974 they switched to a trim ring.  All the repro wheels used the chromed rim.  All repro wheels are also incorrect as the spokes are chromed finish when the OEM had a matte silver finish on the spokes.  Most people don't notice this.

If you are ordering repro wheels, why don't you just run without trim rings?  The chrome on most repro wheels isn't very high quality and the trim rings may damage the finish enough to cause rust.  Or you could try to find some Chrysler wheels which also used trim rings.

I personally liked the painted wheels with trim ring. I wanted to go 15 in just did not realize it was not that simple. Don't care for the chrome. Going to send back the trim rings might use 15's on pinto.Have to find chevelle trim rings and see what they look like.

Bob, I have a bunch of 14 and 15 inch stainless and brushed trim rings. Cheap. Want some pictures? Making some shots for another member, so I'd like to get them all gone. Some Corvette Ralley, some other makes.
