I saw a discussion here somewhere, but when I am looking for it I can't find it.
Anyway, changing the intake on my 351C 2V to an Edelbrock Performer 2V 4 barrel. Engine will stay mostly stock other than this for now. Should I go with the pan style like this https://www.summitracing.com/parts/vri-ms15815/applications/make/ford/year/1972/model/ranchero or this style https://www.summitracing.com/parts/fel-1240/applications/make/ford/year/1972 Ignore the brands for the moment, just grabbed some quick links for comparision. Although I am open to suggestions on what brand to use as well. I do live in Phoenix, AZ, and this will be a daily driver. thanks, Russ |

Hey Russ,
did you get any more info on this yet? Because I'm doing the same thing at the moment and I just bought the non-pan style gaskets before I realized there are other ones as well... |

I installed a "bath-tub" intake gasket on my 472 for an LPG application(also has blocked heat crossover), really helped with fuel boiling issues in the carb's fuel bowls.

Both (the pan and intake gasket set)get used. The "pan" gasket is just to keep oil from getting to the underside of the intake.

Alright, I think I'll go with the pan style...I just don't want to risk having to take it all apart again just because the gasket has disintegrated under torquing down.

The real benefit of the pan gasket is heat reduction from blocking the hot oil splash/mist from the bottom of the intake plenum/runners.

the turkey pan will/should come with very thin paper gaskets, i believe the paper gaskets go on the heads then the metal tray under the manifold
the reason i don't like the turkey pan is because it creates a cavity under the manifold where condensation forms or holds moisture and rusts through the turkey pan. the last 2 i took off were perforated through by rust pinholes
