Does anyone have decent pictures of the two halves of the column cover? I'm in the process of pulling the steering column but can't seem to figure out how to split the cover.
I've worked around with probes at the seam but can't seem to draw a mental image of what the latching mechanism looks like. Edited by lynchster - 18-March-2017 at 6:54AM |

I do not have pics, but the 2 halves come apart after removing the 2 Philips head screws on the bottom half of cover. The cover halves fit together with sort of a "snap", the front of the covers that fit below the gauge cluster one half has a forward facing pin and the other has a rearward facing female socket the pin fits into. I found it easier to remove the gauge cluster surround first. If you separate the end of the covers nearest the steering wheel, then carefully spread the halves apart and using the front area as a hinge, you can slide the lower cover back enough to disengage the pin from the upper cover's socket, then remove it and the upper cover from the column. Hope this helps.

I've taken mine apart a few times without breaking the tabs, I found the trick was to undo one side and then the other just falls apart

I managed to get them apart and as an added bonus I didn't break them in the process. Mine didn't have screws but it had the two retainers.
