Here she is folks, a genuine factory Starsky & Hutch Mercury Montego. If you look at the specs for the original build of the S&H tribute cars, Ford records that they built 1002 of them. Odd ball number until you realize that Ford originally planned on building 1000 of them, but someone at Ford decided to let the Lincoln/Mercury dealers of the day have some fun too....so one dealer, ordered two of them. Cater Lincoln Mercury in Yorkville, NY got them, sold them and that was it....one was wrecked and repainted a different color, the other was traded in two years later in Utica NY at Dons Ford on Route 12....that is where my friend Terry picked it up...used....in 1978....for dirt compared to it's value today.....Enjoy the picture gang....he isn't parting with it any time soon.

Would love to see more pics of that.  Any chance he has a Marti report?  That would be cool to see.

Huh. Wonder why they did a run of Mercury S&H cars. So the Lincoln-Mercury folks could have some fun?

So, like the Torino, will this Montego have a DSO ending in 0022?  Does it have the firewall tag with PS-122 on it?

Does a Marti report show whether a Torino is a S&H unit?

Where’s he located?     That would have been a cool car to have at Carlisle a few years back when they recognized the S&H cars.

I saw one of these Montegos years ago at a car show once. I didn't think it was a real S/H car at all. That's awesome! Would.love to see more pics and maybe a Marti on it. How cool is that!

Not to be a party pooper or anything but the rarest Mercury would be the 1 (one) and only 1 1972 Montego MX with the Cyclone option. 29 were on the GT cars but only 1 MX was ever built.
We have never found it and have only found 3 of the GT based Cyclone cars.

Yes I still lurk here from time to time.
