I have a 72 Gran Torino Sport, with a 302 and C4 transmission. Bought the car with the dash moderately torn apart, with the 6-7 gauge cluster laying in the passenger seat, but a 3 gauge cluster was in the trunk.

How do I figure out which cluster came with the car originally?

First post on this forum. Just picked up this project not even a week ago. First car rebuild of my life very excited, but also realizing how little I know.

Follow up post regarding the cluster.

I see the link for gauge clusters on this page and have read it. However, they refer to one gauge cluster as being standard and one as not. Does standard refer to being on just the base torino not the Gran? Or just a special option that would require more money like the Rallye cluster??

Based on your post, I'm guessing the 3 gauge cluster came with the car originally.  The best way to be sure is to order a Marti Report from Kevin Marti.  It will have some good info on your specific car.  Here's a link:  http://www.martiauto.com/martireports.cfm

Base cluster has 3 big pods for gauges/clock.
Sport cluster has the big main gauges and about 6 small gauges.
Wiring harnesses are different, but can be changed.
