Hi all,

Having my 351 Cleveland 2V rebuilt, including a 4-bbl carb.  Guy doing the work suggested a Holley 600 or 650.  I couldn't find an application for Holley for Torinos at Summit Racing, and Jegs only lists Edelbrocks.  I know there is debate about which is better.  But aside from that, I would certainly assume that there is an application for Holley 650's for 351 Clevelands, right?  Where would I find them?  Feel free to inject opinions here too, I am open to the debate.  Thanks!

That's really not a cut and dry question. Not enough info to give you a proper suggestion.

Street motor? Race motor? Stock rebuild? Any head work? Performance camshaft? Headers or manifolds? Manual or automatic trans?

Your CFM needs and vacuum vs mechanical secondaries, will depend on your engine's airflow demands. And if you are running an auto, you'll need a carb kickdown linkage.

The brand of carb doesn't really matter. All aftermarket brands work well.....if you are familiar with the brand you're using. If your engine builder will be helping with your tuning, then go with a Holley. But tell me more about your combo so I can suggest the proper one.

Sal,

Thanks for replying.  I'm still learning so forgive me if I say something ignorant.  Not sure what the exact definition of "street motor" is, but we are putting in higher compression pistons and lumpier cam...so more than a stock rebuild, so maybe that's it.  I had a custom dual exhaust put on a while back but didn't use any aftermarket headers.  Going from 2V to 4V requires a new manifold, I believe.  The car is an automatic.  He suggested auto choke and auto kickdown.  Does that help?

Alright.....here's the carb I would suggest for you...

It's a Holley 600cfm Street Warrior. It's a step up from the basic Holley. Nicer finish, electric choke, linkage for Ford trans kickdown. 600cfm with vacuum secondaries will be a nice carb for a mild performance 351C.

Of course, if money is no object, there are dozens of other higher end carbs out there. But it doesn't sound like you really need that level of carb on your build.

Take a look at the Summit brand 600 cfm. I run it, and love it. Great price, too.
