underhood is the same way. my 37k mile and garaged its whole life car leaves rust scale from the under side areas of the hood not painted on the top of the core support and the cowl from the hood. Not sure how I'll address that  Confused

Thanks John for the confirmation.... yeah I noticed that Ford didn't apply any primer/paint back inside the the deck lid but rest assured I WILL after all the effort I've put into my build! Beer

i don't think ford primered or painted the back sides of the metal just what got sprayed after it was assembled that's why these cars seem to rust out over the years Cry i sealed up my trunk drain holes too Embarrassed but i don't plan to leave my car out in the elements! not after all the work i did! i also sealed around all the inner bracing just to keep moisture out

As I was blasting the seam sealer from the underside of my deck lid, I noticed four drains along the trailing edge of the panel. I'm going to assume these were to drain out any excess primer as the panels were prepped and then were sealed when the seam sealer was applied to prevent moisture from bypassing the trunk seal.

Is my logic correct?

THANKS
