Adding a laser stripe isn't out of the question in my mind, its on the ever - growing wish list with: bucket seats/console, new carpet, dash pad cover, floor shifter, functional A/C, CD player, tinted windows, engine detail, sport gauge cluster, trunk lock cover, rechrome rear bumper, hood scoop.......

So do you think it is a sign to put the laser stripes on?

That is pretty cool! I wonder if that was how Ford came up with that stripe in the first place?

Recently noticed the afternoon sun casts an almost perfect phantom laser stripe on the side of my solid blue Torino

Lynchster- Thanks! It was originally dark blue. I had the paint buffed out & waxed since the photos were taken, the paint isn't perfect, but it looks pretty good for a driver. I've gotten lazy in my later years, and washing & waxing a car isn't as much fun as it once was

It has been used as a shelf for many years. Don't have any pictures of it, but I can make some of the cool (back then) "accessories" if I can get a shot of them on it, lol.

Its great you still have your 76'. I sold my 74' to a friend and later saw it in a junkyard trashed out. I had this sense of panic like I wanted to rescue it, but at the time, funds and storage space didnt allow for that to happen. I had found a huge "TORINO" decal, it was like 8" tall & 2-1/2' foot wide, and put it on the left bottom corner of the trunk lid. Each rear quarter had a prism "Torino" decal on it. In the above photo, it had ET torque thrust rims on the back, later I went to a full set of Cragar S/S wheels with L60/14s on the back. Bet you enjoyed the Billy Squire blast one last time. Have you ever posted photos of your "decorated" 76'?

I had the tinted headlight covers on my '76 in the early days of ownership. The car still sits as it did in 1983 when I parked it. American Racing rear wing, "Party Wagon" stenciled on the taillights, hidden bar behind the rear seat, Trans Am splitter pipes, hand painted and stenciled undercarriage, tinted windows, crazy hidden pin stripes, black accented areas under the hood and trunk lid between the bracing, small chrome steering wheel, Sanyo Bi-Amp stereo with a Billy Squier cassette, a matching hand painted Hot Wheel in the area where the clock should be, Hawaiian lei around the mirror, CB radio with PA under the hood, air shocks, hand painted grill with T O R I N O in the spaces, numerous racing decals under the hood and under the bumper... No wonder I became embarrassed driving it and parked it back then.
Several years ago, I was bored one day and decided to see how the years of storage had treated the old stereo. Put a battery in the Torino, turned the key and the stereo sprang to life! That is when I found the Billy Squier cassette in the slot. Cranked up "My Kind Of Lover" through the Audiovox front and Phase II rear speakers, kicked up both equalizers and basked in 1970-80's sound. Then "Stroke" started playing and when it hit the first bass note, the rear speakers shot out a bunch of debris and gave one glorious thump. I quietly turned the key off, patted the stereo and smiled. Edited by unlovedford - 29-December-2017 at 2:52AM |

The retro steering wheel was already installed when I bought the car, its got a comfortable grip to it. But on some sunny days the glare off the chrome spokes is a little blinding
