I am ready to install my power steering cooler soon.  It needs to be cleaned up and detailed.  I have soaked it in parts cleaner and this is what it looks like now below.  It is solid, just needs the paint stripped and reshot.  Anyone have any suggestions on how to clean it up/prep for paint?  Keep in mind the fins are pretty fragile.

send me that stool it's laying on, and i'll tell youLOL
i'd say remove the paint with spray paint stripper... no blasting! the tubes and fins i don't think are steel so shouldn't be any rust on them?

I used it to remove powder coating from an intake manifold.

Thank guys, stripper should work the best..  I think the fins might be brass?  Maybe even the tubes.  The brackets are just steal though.

Will those strippers be okay on brass?

And John, you're not getting my shop stool!!

those strippers shouldn't hurt brass... you just need it to remove the old paint then wash it off with water Wink  if you need to blast the steel bracket... wrap the rest with duct tape to protect it.
when repainting it, spray just enough to color it evenly, don't lay it on thick!

a reliable radiator shop told me that as i sprayed a radiator with several nice coats of urethane auto paint... he told me that it won't dissipate the heat as good and that he had a hell of a time removing it in the hot tank EmbarrassedLOL

There's always a good time to be had when a stripper is involved...…….especially when removing paint Wink.

To update this thread, I did end up stripping the paint with paint stripper. It worked fairly well then it require prep with sand paper and wire brushes
In the end it came out pretty good I think.

Here it is stripped:

Here it is painted:
