I need some information. I am thinking about putting rear disc brakes on my 1970 Ford Gran Torino. I would like to hear from someone that has already tackled this task and get some feedback and information. Any help would be appreciated.

not sure on the 70? but good possibility that mustangs would interchange?, if so a kit should be available... you will need a disc/disc proportioning valve for the correct brake bias front to rear
someone else may know more... |

Stainless Steel Brakes makes a kit. I know the Torino parts places used to sell it too.

did say rear huh?
my 1st look would be a complete 8.8 31 spline Ranger axle swap, good upgrade. if not the whole axle then just the brakes? what's the Mark IV / Versailles swap, would those work? Edited by Rockatansky - 14-January-2019 at 6:38AM |

1970 has a better-than-50/50 chance of being an 8" rear end.

if the car is stock.ford did 8" in the 302 cars.if it has a 351 or bigger it got the 9".this is the way ford did it from 1969 to late 70s that i know of.pre 1969 is different rules.you can use a 28 spline 8" axle in the place of a 28 spline 9"axle ....
