Has anyone here converted a floor shift automatic to a 5 speed Tremec TKO manual with a hydraulic clutch behind a 351 Cleveland? If so I would like to visit with you. I have talked to the fellas at Modern Driveline and they have the components minus the crossmember. The only hiccup is having to change the brake booster to a hydro boost because of the large booster. Sans the questions I have in the conversion. All replies will be greatly appreciated.

i don't see why you couldn't swap the large single diaphragm booster for a small dual diaphragm unit?

1971 460 Torino used a dual diaphragm, CARDONE 5473200

no idea if it's a direct swap or do-able at all though. rodders use all sorts of small boosters to get the job done, GM units, the GEO booster is popular

but again no idea what the swap would entail or if the GEO master is suitable.... i haven't done any research into it

Todd (Aquartlow) has done the hydroboost conversion, so he can probably help you out with the details on that if you choose to go that route.

Otherwise, I think Rock's idea of finding a smaller booster would work.

I have a TKO in my car. It was a column shift C-6. I had a floor shift parts car that I swapped the steering column.

My car: 393C (stroker), TKO 5 speed.

Nice idea, and a crossmember can easily be fabricated.

Didnt't have to. The C-6 crossmember fit with some "minor" adjustments (elongated mount holes). I even used a C-6 transmission mount...put my pinion angle DOB (dead on balls).

If you did this swap and you have pics, please share them.  I know others would be very interested.

I too did the hydroboost conversion. I was unable to find a booster small enough to give me the room I was looking for. Added advantage; hydroboost seems to send more pressure to the brakes. Being as mine was from a 78 Lincoln Mark V; it was darn near bolt up. I did have custom hoses fabricated.

I'll have to dig through what I have left. I ran over my phone with a forklift a couple years back.

I did my tremec tko swap about 8 years ago. I used the pedal/ brake booster cable clutch setup out of a foxbody mustang. Shifter placement came very close to factory hump, and crossmember required minor modification and driveshaft needed to be shortened.
