I need a new head liner and am thinking of doing it myself. Is it difficult to do oneself, of better to pay the $?

The first headliner I did myself was on my 72GTS. It's not that hard and is very rewarding work. There are several videos online and if you get the process and you have the right size hoops in-place it comes out great! I made a curved wood form and stakes to maintain uniform pull at the front windshield. Also used those large black metal paper clips and 3M 77 upholstery adhesive through-out.

i did mine took about 2 hrs not real hard... but before you just rip your old one out... make note of which holes the bow rods are in if you have multiple holes for each, and keep each bow rod in order front to back as they may be different

RE: Wonder which headliner is correct for a '69 2 Door - Cobra The Rockauto site (below) confuses me. I don't have a fastback so that seems to leave 2 choices (2nd & 4th), I have crater so it must be #2? Anyone know what a FormalNotch-Back Roof is? What is Number 65? Rockauto has good prices, but the lack of support is troublesome. Any ideas on the proper item? |

jonny, How much more difficult is this job with the windshields still in (mine are)? I've watched several Autorestomod vids and they have the glass removed. They also show gluing the backside of the liner where it wraps around ending at the glass. Seems like the trim is sufficient to hold it - is the weatherstrip glue required?
