What might be causing the erratic shaking of the speedometer “needle” in the instrument cluster/dashboard?!.

could be a couple of things... check the cable for and kinked or damaged spots, more than likely it dry inside! you can pull the inner cable out from one end (bottom i think?) if someone used grease it may be old and thick will need cleaned off and relubed if there's no grease you can lube it with dry graphite powder Wink also check the plastic gear on the end for worn or missing teeth!
