Hi to all, I have a conventional distributor with points. If I replace the 7mil plug wires with 8 mil / 800 ohm wires will I have created a detrimental effect on engine performance......I was thinking bigger is better or am I taxing the ignition system for no good reason??? Thanks for your input.

get the lowest resistance you can find, i usually run copper core wires on most of my cars and cut and crimp to length works fine with a resister plugs! i wanted red wires on my torino so i had to get resister wires to get that color but they were low ohms and spiral wound stainless around carbon resistor cores so they work fine...

I agree with John, no issue with the 8mm. I ran 8mm with my old point ignition which was later upgraded to with Pertronix. I also cut and crimp to length. The pre-cut wires are never the correct length.
