Kent here.  Northern CA (SF Bay Area)  Car is a 1976 Ford Elite purchased new - triple black running a 460 - never wrecked - garage kept for all but about 8 months.  All paperwork on hand including the original build sheet, owner manual and original bill of sale.  Per the Ford database, there were darn few of these made.

Welcome to the forum Kent!  I have upgraded you to a full member so you no have full forum privileges.  It sounds like you have a pretty nice and rare Elite.  Post some pics when you have a chance.

I have not seen another triple black around here but, then again, I really haven't paid much attention.

I took a look at the Ford database stats I received and it's kind of interesting

There were 146,475 1976 Elites built
3,204 had the 460 with an automatic transmission
Of those 3,204, 455 were painted black, and of those 455, 129 had the black interior and of those, 74 had the black half vinyl roof (aka the "Odense" roof)

So, that indicates 0.05% of those built met the above criteria. (74/146,475)

If you factor in that only ONE had the trailer towing package....the percentage is insane :)

I have no way of knowing but suspect the "survival rate" after the 44 years I've owned it is fairly low.

What does all this mean?  Not much unless you are selling or looking to buy

Groan.....I told you I was old Tongue  Anyway, try as I may I can't seem to upload any photo's.  The closest I've come is getting a picture of an F-105 cockpit in "my pictures" but even that won't load.  Likewise, I can't load a picture of the remains of an F-86 that crashed soon after takeoff, in Korea. (the pilot  survived)  Nor can I get the picture of him by his F-105 that subsequently got shot down over Nam - he survived that one as well.

So, I'm switching to plan B - that will happen when my Tech Support person (13 year-old girl) comes home from her water skiing/camping trip.

Be patient and thanks for your help so far.

That is a sick ride. I too am struggling with photos. My phone uses high res and they won't download. As well, I will try other avenues.

The Elite looks great!  I am glad you were able to get help to get the photo posted.

How large are the photos your phone takes?  Our forum will allow a maximum of a 10 MB per photo upload.  That is pretty huge for one photo. If they are bigger than that, you can resize and they will upload.  Or I can see if I can alter the forum settings.

I'm getting there slowly. Smile

I HAD to change the wheels - the chrome looks SO much better than those stupid wire wheel hubcaps that came on the car and constantly "squeak" - drove me crazy.  Of course I still have them stashed in the attic above my garage for some unknown reason.

OK John, I get it. Smile  She saw what I posted and told me I should check the board for any updates.  She was/is hoping somebody would ask that and thereby get me thinking about selling it.  Good grief, between you and her.....LOL

Edit:  For the record, I have no "solid" idea what it's worth so I hide behind that when she brings it up.  I think she just wants to free up garage space - it's a three-car space so taking one of the three cars out leaves more room for "something."

As it is I have to travel across town to get to where I keep my car. I wish I had room for more but am glad I don't at the moment. Lol
Vise Grip Garage show just drove a similar car 600 miles after freeing up an engine that was sitting for 29 years. The engine was locked up solid.. Pretty good show on YouTube.  I could have a few beers with that guy.
