Laser stripe cars typically only had trim around the wheel openings.  I hope you are able to make a deal? Lots of love here for these machines.

he sounds super serious about the Cougar.  So we will see.  I had a cousin that passed away several years ago.  He had a light blue 72 GTS Q code.  Don’t know whatever happened to it though.  I think it got wrecked and scrapped.

72RS351 - I’ll definitely hit you up if I get it.  With just the laser stripes it needs that extra little bit of trim on the side.

Very nice set of projects, I love most old cars.

I have a pair of the front 72 mouldings if you get the car.

bad news is that the original distributor is gone and replaced with a GM style HEI.  So stock air cleaner is in the trunk.  I’ll be replacing that distributor if I get it.  Also missing the wheel well opening moldings.

I’ve also got a 57 F100 project in the building, my 1942 pickup, 27 Modell TT and a 1969 MG Midget.  Too many projects.  The main one being worked right now is my 1938 Ford Standard Coupe.  4” drop axle, 8” w/3:73 rear, 265 Merc Flathead with T5.  Motor will be done soon and car will be painted in the next month.

Well I haven’t made the deal quite yet.  The owner is interested in trading for my Cougar.  It needs a new top, door panels and some work on the PW.  His GTS is not perfect but is a solid driver.  We’ll see if it works out.

Welcome!  You've been upgraded so you have full forum privileges and can post pics.  Your car has a lot of desirable options.  Along with the Q-code, the Rallye Equipment group included the competition suspension and the gauge package.  So your car has one of the hottest setups for 1972.

Just joining up to learn more about the 72 GTS.  I may be getting a project 72 at the end of the month.  It's a Q code, auto, AC, PS, with 3.25 rear.  Dark Blue Metallic with white bench seat.  Not many options on it although it does have the Rally Equipment Group, Magnum 500's, laser stripe on the side.  It's a running project, so look forward to maybe owning it and restoring it as I enjoy it.

This is my first 72 Torino.  I previously owned a 70 GT with M code, shaker, auto car.  I currently have a 72 Cougar XR-7 convertible, a couple of 71 Comet GT's and some other old Fords.  - Matt
