I was thinking along the lines of the modern flush mounted composites. Like attempting 85-86 Nissan maxima headlamp assy's assuming they would fit in the opening after removing the divider and triming to fit.

Meh, I wasn't really interested in doing that..
If anything I would have done a 74-76 Cougar nose swap.. round headlights > rectangle headlights.. but I couldn't come up with a nose. |

Some pictures....
It looks mostly the same to the untrained eye, but I have probably 15 hours of actual work in it I think since the last pictures. |

Was a nice day outside today, so I dragged my 'new' door out. It's way better than mine, but some moron cut the speaker hole (5.25") out to 6x9 size... POORLY. The panel was cracked besides due to crappy cutting.
I cut up my door on the car, made a patch, and fixed the hole.. Now it's the way it should be. |

Nice extra effort to get that fold over for the seam of the trunk skin. Should be about undetectable.

Still here.. been busy the past month with other things. quarter panel, done. That "rust free" door I got from Oregon a few years ago was rust free. .but not quite DENT free :rolleyes:.. fixed now. putting the door on tomorrow... and then I get to do the hood.. which sucks.. it makes a great work bench. I have an NOS hood to swap, but its tweaked a bit in front due to shipping. :doh: |

Well, you are doing better than me!
I can say at least you didn't have to weld in a center section of a door to fix yours...

I am being picky. FAIL on not pulling the header panel and shooting fresh primer and paint.
{I hate being a former body guy. It sucks the fun out of restoring this stuff}
Still, good to see it's getting closer.
