90% of the hood is 3 coats of single stage.
The flat center portions are 3 coats of SS ... while the center flat is with 2 coats of a 50/50 mix of clear/paint, and to the left is 3 coats like that.. I'll bring it outside tomorrow to see what the differences are and what I like the best. |

Did you do a bead of seam sealer on the lip around the hood skin?
{Once again, I hate being a former bodyman}
Looking nice.
Are you going to run a hood pad? Just thinking so that way the 523 doesn't cook your paint.

Seam sealer, no, I epoxy primered the whole thing though.
Yes to a hood pad.. hides my sins, and quiets it down. It really doesn't get that hot, no hotter than the 460 did.

More pics
One run on the vertical part of a bumper filler.. and I saved some runs by running (hah) them down to the edge of a quarter panel cap.... I'm just going to slice the drips off with a razor blade. Came out wicked pissa other than that though :)

WUSS!
In all the cars I have painted, I never wore a protective suit.
I liked coming out of a booth/garage/warehouse in any number of metallic or solid color tinted skin.
This is killer...excited to see the car getting shot!

I haven't seen that much paint in the air since I painted a welding truck in my uncles garage. Nicely done. If you hurry there is still plenty of season left to cruise it.

Engine bay? Nah. I don't even know what it's supposed to look like. I was going to pull fender bolts one by one and do the fake cad spray paint (I have a setup).
Chuck, I'm figuring end of October unfortunately, I have a lot to do besides reassembly. Edited by Psquare75 - 05-August-2009 at 4:27PM |

Not really. I spent most of this week putting the driver's door together. I had a door from a Ranchero that I used, but it was a totally bare shell, I had to swap over all my internals. That's done. The mirror is on. Also got my A pillar pieces on, inside the car.

Mirrors look good on the Cougar and yes you can see much better with them than the originals. I sure like mine.

DIY. This shouldn't be too bad.. My dad said he did a few back in the day, and this roof has no seams.. so there isn't anything to line up.

Unfortuately I got power doors on the Ranchero. The Sport on the other hand is all manual (except the brakes), just the way I would ordered it new.

This was the crusty old carpet. :puke: I tossed the undercarpet insulation... it was bogus. Smelled like something died and was moist. I love how Ford basically used thick cardboard on the floor pans to cover the wire conduit stamped into the floor  I'll be making something a bit more durable.. I also neatened up the wires nicely so they go where they should.. For 3 years the power trunk wire was draped over the carpet. Oops. The LTD II I own half of has dry insulation, so I think I'm going to use that |

Are you sure that's not a quarter pounder with cheese carton from one of the guys on the assembly line!?!?! Wow, a nice piece of rubber or a cut up floormat would have been better.
