INFO: The Official Tire Size Thread

I have less than $1k into my tire and wheel package, with shipping, mount and balance by a good local shop.

Depending on what sort of speeds you plan on running, you could always get into a sticker DOT legal track tire. Nitto seems to be kicking out a bunch of different speed rated tires.

I went for the 450NT because it was a good fit for what I wanted. They have a high load rating, which, honestly our cars are on the heavy side.

If you were running 15's, you could always go a little nuts and drop a complete set of 4 275/60r15 nitto drag radials on all 4 corners...get you like 15000 miles of street use 

The 15x10, 5"BS Aero rims on the rear.

 

NO RUB!!!

Hit dips, hard turns, heavy accel off lights and around corners, potholes, odd angles to raised hump driveways... NO RUBS!!!

The side pipes like to bottom out, always have.

Tomorrow I will swap out the rims, gonna put these rims on the front to see the 15x10 5"BS and 295/50/15 tires work without rubbing.

 

The 255/60/15 on the 15x7 hurricane rims worked great too, no rub!

so now it will be a straight swap, front to rear, rear to front.

the Chrome 15x10, 5"BS, Aero rims 295/50/15

 

With a yard stick against the tire to show width and clearance to fender lip

 

Poor man's 1/2" spacer... five 5/8" nuts. They are a HAIR over 1/2" thick...

 

Basically making it a 4.5" backspace rim... Clearance/line up with fender lip pics...

 

NO RUB, even with SAGGY OLD springs and no air in the shocks.

I hope what I have contributed will help.

Just remember that rim and tire fitment will change with specific vehicle depending on spring heights.

ie... the 15x10 w/5" BS and 295/50/15 fit and work in the front, they DO rub on MY car because it is sagging in the front...when I put the springs on... no more rub but COULD change if it rubs the front and back edge of the fenders. same problem with the 275/60/15 on a 7" w/3"BS

it will all be a good GUIDE but everyone's individual cars will differ and determine what will fit.

I know we would have LOTS of lines from the same person! lol

I know I can contribute about 8 different tire combos!

 

Need a good COMMENT column... old wore out springs

or someway to do a height measurement to get good comparisons

Maybe even a fender lip height colum for front and rear with the tires on the car?

 

I just pick things up and IF they fit great... if not oh well!

But it does give me a big database and knowledge of what does and doesn't fit.
